Is Your Resume SMART

As a Payments and eCommerce recruiter I often receive resumes that do not reflect the actual accomplishments of the candidate in a way that impacts and informs the reader.
On average a hiring manager or recruiter will spend less than 30 seconds reviewing a resume to decide if they want to engage the candidate.
That is why it is important to make sure your resume is SMART. (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, Timely)
Specific: Can the reader clearly understand what the accomplishment, award, task was?
Measurable: How was the result measured as a percent, KPI, growth etc.…
Actionable: What was the action that you personally took to drive this accomplishment.
Relevant: Are your accomplishments & statements relevant based on the position requirements
Timely: What was the timeframe that a goal, achievement, award, task, took place.
Your resume is the first critical step in landing that next career changing opportunity, don’t let it end up in the pass file with general unspecific accomplishments and statements.
Be bold, proud, and SMART with your resume and it will impact that key first step in pursuing your next your career opportunity.
